Adelle and Brad pulled off one of the great surprise events of all time – what guests thought was an engagement party turned out to be a full-blown wedding celebration! It was such a thrill to be part of the cheeky ruses, and even more of a joy to photograph this elegant, laughter-filled day right in the heart of Melbourne.

A Secret Plan in the City

The couple chose the Adina Apartment Hotel for their getting-ready moments — a stylish, central spot just a short stroll from their ceremony location at The Mint. With everyone relaxed and the city backdrop shining, it was a lovely place to kick off the day.

A Melbourne Wedding Venue with History

Built between 1869 and 1872, The Mint is a neoclassical beauty with a fascinating past. Originally a branch of London’s Royal Mint, it once produced gold and silver coins before its transformation into one of Melbourne’s most unique event venues. These days, it’s a dream location for weddings… even the secret kind! The vibe was warm and heartfelt — celebrant Leah Brady nailed the atmosphere perfectly (and kept the secret under wraps like a pro!).

Surprise! It’s a Wedding!

The moment Adelle stepped into the room in her gown, jaws dropped, gasps filled the air, and then the room erupted with cheers. It didn’t take long for guests to realise they were witnessing a wedding, not just an engagement party… cue happy tears, delighted shrieks, and a flurry of slightly shaky, overjoyed phone footage.

A Whirlwind Photo Session & Dance-floor Delight

After the ceremony, we wandered through the heritage grounds of The Mint for some quick portraits. The textures and tones of the building made for a beautiful backdrop – but we didn’t linger too long this time. This was a party-focussed night! With a banging Spotify playlist on DJ duty and heartfelt speeches to round out the evening, the celebration was full of joy and energy.
