Daniela and Matthew’s wedding day was a romantic adventure from start to finish – with history, architecture, and just a hint of rain to add a touch of magic. Their Montsalvat wedding photography session was an absolute highlight, followed by a windswept trip down to Princes Pier to round out their Melbourne wedding photography journey. Last stop – at the Wattle Park Chalet! Despite the damp weather, these two glowed the whole way through. I’m so happy to share some of the highlights here for all to enjoy!
Wedding Photography at Montsalvat
After lots of getting-ready shots we were on the move. Montsalvat is one of those rare places that feels like stepping into another world. Nestled in Eltham, its mud-brick buildings, stained-glass windows and European-style artist retreat vibes make it a dream location for wedding photography. The rain kept us mostly inside, but that just meant we had the perfect excuse to play with dramatic window light in the chapel and the loft. The moody textures and timeless architecture gave their portraits an elegant, cinematic quality, and the brief break in the clouds let us sneak in some family photos outdoors too.
Planning for Multiple Wedding Photography Locations
Allowing time for your travel enables you to use as much of the light as possible to capture amazing wedding photography portraits. Single location weddings are often simpler to organise but if you have multiple locations in mind I will always match your energy! Your vision is what counts. Melbourne is a big place, so you need to plan for travel time and ensure your bridal party travels in style! Daniela and Matthew had big dreams for their day – and with some careful planning it went perfectly. Factoring in the travel time from Eltham to Princes Pier meant we could hit both locations while still catching beautiful light. (With a quick pit-stop at KFC for hungry groomsmen – and bridesmaids!) If you’re dreaming of multiple stops for your wedding photos, that little bit of forethought and buffer time makes all the difference. So worthwhile… the results speak for themselves!
Princes Pier Wedding Photos
Princes Pier was the perfect contrast to the warm, earthy tones of Montsalvat. As the wind picked up and the clouds rolled in, the scene became something straight out of a movie… long, leading lines, crashing waves, and a couple so clearly in love they barely noticed the weather. It’s always such a joy photographing couples who embrace whatever the day brings.
Wattle Park Chalet Reception
The celebration continued at the Wattle Park Chalet, where the heritage venue, fairy-lit dance floor, and gorgeous gardens welcomed guests for a lively evening of dancing, bridal games and heartfelt speeches. The atmosphere was full of warmth and laughter, and the energy didn’t dip once. It was such a joy to be part of Daniela and Matthew’s day – thank you both for trusting Pause The Moment to capture all of it. Rain or shine, your love story was beautiful from every angle!
