Baxter Barn Wedding Photography
Madison and Braedan chose a beautiful spot to celebrate their nuptials with friends and family and gave me my very first opportunity to capture a wedding at the much-loved Baxter Barn. After a heartfelt ceremony at their church, the couple cruised off in a vintage Ford, kicking off the photo session with effortless style. Their classic taste, thoughtful planning, and generous photo timeline made for an incredible day… and the results were just stunning.
Getting Ready Photography: Calm Meets Excitement
The morning began in Croydon, with Maddy and Brae getting ready at separate houses. With two photographers on the team that day, we were able to document both sides of the prep without missing a moment. The vibe at Maddy’s place was cheerful and chilled (props to her bridesmaids and brides-bloke!), while over at Braedan’s, nerves were running a little higher… but in a very sweet, I-can’t-wait-to-see-her way. Braedan’s family and groomsmen helped to calm his nerves as the hour approached to leave for the church. Luckily, somebody had a leather punch to help adjust the size of some groomsmen’s belts! You can never be too prepared on a wedding day!
A Science-Loving Ceremony
Their Baptist wedding ceremony beautifully blended tradition with unique personal touches. Guests were treated to songs, prayers, and subtle nods to the couple’s love of high school science teaching – from symbolic gestures to clever styling. The love in the room was palpable, and it was clear how much care had gone into every detail, both the humorous and the sacred.
Golden Hour Wedding Photography at Baxter Barn
We always say light and time are a wedding photographer’s best friends – and Madison and Braedan absolutely nailed both. They carved out generous time for photos before their reception, and the golden hour light as we wandered the grounds of Baxter Barn was just magic. The skies had been threatening to cloud over all day, but as we made our way down Eastlink and into the venue, the sun reappeared. Couldn’t have planned it better!
Reception Highlights and Doughnut Delights
The reception was everything you want from a celebration: warm, joyful, and full of personality. The Baxter Barn team was wonderful to work with, and the entire night ran like clockwork. There was a doughnut cake (yes, it was as good as it sounds), science books at every table, and even some periodic table puns woven into the decor. A highlight? The bridal party’s enthusiastic doughnut-eating competition… a hilarious moment that still makes me laugh every time I look at the photos. Maddy and Brae’s wedding was a true celebration of love, style, and community – and the photos from this one still stop me in my tracks.
