Part Two: Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club Wedding Celebration

After their intimate Thursday ceremony at The Old Treasury Building in Melbourne’s CBD, Anapaula and Tim gathered their wider circle for a relaxed Saturday reception at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club. New dress, bigger crowd, and that easy “we’re married!” glow! It was the perfect second chapter to a very special week.

Light-Filled Function Space & Sun-Drenched Terrace

I don’t always make a feature of venue images in my posts (I usually keep the focus on the couple), but I always enjoy taking them and want to feature them here especially: Kooyong kindly kept my details on file for over a decade and were responsible for recommending me to Anapaula and Tim. I am so grateful they put us in touch!

Arriving before the couple, I photographed the exterior and wide frames of the light, bright function space: crisp white linens, elegant place settings, and terrace doors flung open to the afternoon sun. From the corner you could see the speech podium, the dance floor, and that gorgeous balcony ready for mingling. Outside, I captured the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club signage, neatly trimmed hedges, pink-and-white blooms, plus views across the courts from above. Everything was perfect.

Arrivals, Hugs & Balcony Candids

Guests filtered in with hugs on repeat: greetings on the terrace, Anapaula (in her stunning second white dress) welcoming relatives, and plenty of laughter as the guest list was ticked off. We mixed relaxed family portraits with playful frames of connection. I loved immortalising those little in-between balcony moments: canapés being served, clinking glasses, and golden light catching so many enormous smiles.

Cake, Speeches & A Sweet Finish

Their three-tier cake featured the cutest touch: a tiny black Labrador figurine, a nod to their beloved and adored pup who had joined the ceremony earlier in the week. We also took a second for a quick portrait of three wonderfully helpful Kooyong staff (thank you again, team!) before moving inside for toasts.

Delicious Dinners & Splendid Speeches

Speeches were heartfelt and full of gratitude, made even more emotional with family who’d flown in from overseas. Anapaula and Tim shared their own words too before the official cake cutting. A dessert buffet followed featuring inhaleable chocolate pastries and fresh strawberries. They saved their official first dance for a future chapter (their Mexican wedding will be overseas with the rest of Anapaula’s family… oh that I could join them there!) but there was still plenty of joyful, spirited celebrating and dance floor action as the evening rolled on. Everyone was well and truly in the party spirit!
