Melbourne Wedding and Family Photography

Some moments are too special to only live in memory, which is why I often stay online-friends with clients who have shared their big day (especially those who I’ve had time to get to know really well when they have booked whole-day coverage)! That’s why I absolutely love when wedding clients return years later to document the next chapter… it really means the world. I photographed Kelly and Joel’s heartwarming wedding back in 2019, and was so touched when they reached out again with beautiful news: another new little family member had arrived! I was thrilled to capture this milestone with them.

From Wedding Bells to Tiny Toes – Four Years On

One of my favourite things is watching couples evolve into families – and seeing how they still instinctively know what makes a magical photo. Kelly and Joel hadn’t lost their eye for good light or heartfelt moments. Even in their own home, they created a space where warmth and joy could shine through. Long, golden light and a gentle energy made this shoot a dream to capture.

Choosing the Right Setting for Family Photos

Every family session is a unique little story. I often recommend shooting in and around the home – especially when there’s a newborn involved. It’s relaxed, meaningful, and full of the textures of real life. Kelly and Joel’s house was the perfect backdrop. Beautiful soft light, neutral tones, and a sense of comfort that let everyone settle in. After some lovely indoor photos, we popped into the front yard for a few more playful, natural portraits. Their casual outfits helped keep the whole shoot feeling authentic and fun.
