Poet’s Lane Wedding Photography – A Dandenong Ranges Dream

Alison and Nathan’s beautiful celebration at Poet’s Lane in the Dandenong Ranges was the kind of day that reminds me why I adore this work. With its towering ferns, storybook gardens, and ever-changing light, this venue is a photographer’s dream, and this couple brought nothing but heart and joy to match it.

“Getting Ready” Wedding Photography

The day began with Nathan getting ready onsite at the venue, while Alison prepared at home in Burwood, surrounded by laughter, calm energy, and just enough champagne to keep things flowing! These hours are some of my favourites to capture… full of anticipation, tenderness, and the quiet “before” moments that so often end up being emotional favourites.

Wedding Ceremony at Poet’s Lane

Held under the open rotunda, Alison and Nathan’s ceremony was framed by lush greenery and the gentle hush of the forest. The air was cool and fresh, the vows were heartfelt, and even the trees seemed to lean in to listen. The natural light in this part of the Dandenongs is pure magic: soft, diffused, and endlessly flattering.

Portraits in the Ferns

After the ceremony, we wandered Poet’s Lane’s sprawling grounds — past mossy pathways, flower-lined steps, and into the ferns. I’ll never stop loving how the Dandenong Ranges wrap themselves around you like a secret garden. We made the most of the gentle afternoon light, capturing portraits filled with joy, connection, and a sense of deep calm.

A Warm and Whimsical Reception

The reception inside was elegant and lively, filled with candlelight, dancing, heartfelt speeches, and so much love in the room you could practically feel it in the walls. One of my favourite moments came later, when we stepped outside for a few final portraits beneath the glowing fairy lights and moonlit trees. The quiet moments in the ferns were just as magical as anything earlier in the day… a soft, enchanted close to a day overflowing with beauty.
