Richmond Wedding Photography
Sophie and John's wedding was our privilege to photograph! They are such lovebirds, and it was not the first time we had met and photographed their beautiful family. We knew we were in for a treat from the day's start! They carefully planned their Richmond wedding photography, and we were primed to capture their day's magic! Check out their awesome photos and read their story below.
Arriving In Style
Sophie started in Clarinda, preparing herself and her beautiful bridesmaids with the help of fabulous stylist Hary May. John and the boys were getting ready in Altona. As is often the case, we started with the girls and then split apart to cover both "getting ready" stages at once. Picked up by some lovingly restored VW Kombi wagons, the trip to the church was unforgettable.
A Traditional Ceremony
The traditional nature of the ceremony and their vows spoke to the history of the generations present and were genuinely moving. There were still many giggles and light-hearted moments. Adding to this emotion was the live video link for Grandad. He had sadly the week before needed to go to the hospital. Thank goodness for technology!
A Hospital Visit and Portraits
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took some time for some adorable candid portraits outside the church and then went to visit Grandad in the hospital. The hospital visit was such a moving part of the day. Grandad was in the ICU but sang traditional songs to the couple, and all the doctors and nurses came to watch. After this unforgettable and unexpected addition to the schedule, it was time for a coffee break and some photographs in Degraves Street. It's a favourite spot for any Melbourne wedding photography enthusiast. However, Sophie and John held it extra dear as it was the site of their first date!
Time to Party!
It was time to head to Fenix Events in Richmond for the wedding reception. The reception was buzzing with love, laughter, and warmth. John's speech was the highlight - beyond the shadow of a doubt, one of the all-time great groom speeches we've ever heard. The evening saw the couple sharing their first dance, followed by the room bursting into dance. As the night progressed, the vibrant sounds of traditional Greek dancing filled the air. Guests joined the merriment, celebrating the couple's heritage and creating an unforgettable experience. Laughter echoed through the venue while shots were shared, forging bonds and creating memories that would be cherished for years to come.
The laughter, the shots, the quiet (and LOUD!) conversations - everything about this day perfectly exemplified what we strive to capture in our wedding photography. From the tranquil suburbs of Melbourne to the vibrant city of Richmond, Sophie and John's wedding was a memorable journey!
