Victoria Barracks Wedding Photography
Nathalie and Juv’s wedding was a whirlwind of elegance, emotion, and Melbourne magic – with a photoshoot at the iconic Victoria Barracks as a standout highlight. This stunning, ivy-draped military building is a rare gem in the city and requires a permit due to its Defence Force status, but it’s well worth the effort. Their portraits there are something truly special.
South Melbourne Wedding Photography
The day began in South Melbourne, with both sides of the wedding party getting ready just floors apart in the same apartment building… a logistical dream! Between joyful bridal games and heartfelt parental blessings, there were already so many beautiful, candid moments to capture before the ceremony even began. With my wonderful second shooter Marty (known for his breathtaking nature photography and just as gifted at capturing celebration and connection) by my side, we covered the morning prep from every angle – a truly ideal setup.
Wedding Photography at the Old Treasury Building
Next, we moved on to their ceremony, which was a small and intimate event in the Old Treasury Building, right in Melbourne’s CBD. Nathalie and Juv decided to only invite their nearest and dearest to this section of the day. It was a delight to wander along for their Treasury Gardens wedding photography after the ceremony. From there, we went straight to the beautiful Victoria Barracks for wedding photography: a favourite for couple and group shots thanks to its rich textures and timeless charm. Between Marty’s quiet focus and my love of ivy-covered anything, this part of the day practically photographed itself!
Melbourne Wedding Photography at Docklands
Our final stop was Docklands, where Nathalie and Juv had booked the fantastic venue, Sumac. Sadly, this Central Pier venue has since closed, we’re hoping something else opens there soon, as it was truly stunning. With its Middle Eastern and Moroccan styling, Sumac brought a unique elegance to the celebration. Marty and I timed it just right to catch that golden hour glow… Docklands never disappoints. The Bolte Bridge and glistening water made the perfect backdrop for some of our favourite portraits of the day.
Nathalie and Juv were an absolute joy to photograph, and I’m so thankful they entrusted us to document their incredible celebration. From South Melbourne to the CBD, Victoria Barracks to Docklands, this was a wedding that truly embraced all the best of what Melbourne has to offer.
