Brenton and Skye

Wilson Botanic Park Wedding in Berwick

Brenton and Skye’s wedding was the perfect reminder that small and casual can feel completely magical, especially when it’s held at Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick, one of Melbourne’s south-east gems for garden weddings. This place has been designed to host multiple celebrations with ease: beautiful ceremony spots, manicured pathways, and endless pockets of colour and greenery that make it incredibly easy to create a varied gallery without ever leaving the grounds! The knot was officially tied at the Rotunda at Wilson Botanic Park, surrounded by spring blooms and that calm, tucked-away feeling this beautiful park does so well.

Bubbles, Belly Laughs & the Happiest Aisle Exit

Their families welcomed them down the aisle with bubbles from personalised sets featuring their names, wedding date, and cartoon versions of their faces… such an awesome souvenir for everyone! Then the kids levelled up the fun with turbo bubble blasters which made the aisle exit an absolute joy – giggles, happy chaos, and the kind of moment you can’t stage… you can only capture. The weather even played along: a perfect cloudy day that gave us soft, even light (every photographer’s dream!) and made the colours sing without anyone squinting.

Why Wilson Botanic Park is a Dream for Wedding Photography

After the ceremony we worked through every family combination, and Wilson Botanic Park made it so easy. That’s one of the reasons I’d recommend it to anyone planning a Berwick wedding: you can flow from ceremony to group photos to couple portraits without the day feeling rushed. Within a short wander we found hedged paths, leafy corners, open lawns, and bright garden colour – perfect for newlywed portraits full of happy wiggles, little dances, and laughter while the rest of the family headed off to lunch celebrations. Even with a two-hour ceremony-only booking, we captured a seriously full story… and yes, I think I broke my personal record for a two hour booking: 565 delivered images! When the energy is that overflowing (and the location is this gorgeous), the camera simply refuses to stop. 😊

In one of those “meant to be” coincidences, Skye’s bouquet of varied spring brights by Alyssa at Studio Alyssum was a perfect colour match for the garden beds right beside the rotunda. Skye also brought peak personality with personalised details: a unique clutch and the coolest custom Converse “chucks” with their names and the date. Practical, playful, and perfect… honestly a dream for relaxed, candid wedding photography… where comfort and real moments come first!

A Message I’ll Treasure Forever

Brenton later messaged after receiving the gallery and I’m keeping these words in my heart forever: “Wow, Michelle!! The photos look absolutely spectacular!!! 🤩 You’ve eternalised the day for us, and we are eternally grateful 🙏. So many wonderful little moments that will always remind us how perfect that day was. I don’t think we could say thank you enough, but thank you! (and thank you again!) The entire gallery is beautiful, and funny, and awesome. It’s exactly what we wanted. ☺️☺️”

That’s the dream: knowing I have captured real moments, real joy, and a gallery that feels irreplaceable. 🥹 🥳 🙏

Brenton and Skye… thank you for trusting me with your day, for bringing such warm energy, and for making this little celebration feel so special. And a big shout-out to your wonderful celebrant Alice Dunn (Weddings Dunn Well) – warm, grounded, excited and welcoming… setting this gorgeous pair off into the next chapter of their journey, full of love and magic.

If you’re planning a Wilson Botanic Park wedding in Berwick (or anywhere in Melbourne’s south-east) and you love the idea of ceremony + portraits all in one gorgeous garden location, this is a venue I’d recommend in a heartbeat – and I’d love to be your Melbourne wedding photographer for it!
